Origin
The Cercis chinensis 'Avondale', also known as the Chinese Redbud, has its origin in East Asia. It is a unique variant of the Cercis plant family, which occurs in many different regions. This unique species was developed by the Avondale Nurseries in New Zealand, where it received its distinctive name.

Characteristics
Cercis chinensis 'Avondale' is popular for its striking colour and beautiful shape. In the spring, this plant is covered with abundantly deep pink to purple flowers, even before the leaf appears, creating an impressive colour play. The leaves are heart-shaped and change colour as the year progresses, starting with a light green colour in the spring and changing to a deep yellow colour in the autumn. This small tree can reach a height of 3 meters.

Care
For the best results, the Cercis chinensis 'Avondale' should be planted in a place with full sun or partial shade. The soil must be well drained and have a neutral to alkaline pH value. This plant is a reasonably drought-resistant species over time and requires little maintenance.
