Origin
The Prunus laurocerasus 'Novita', also known as the Cherry Laurel 'Novita', is indigenous to the area around the Black Sea, specifically in Turkey, Iran, and southeastern Bulgaria. This plant species has been cultivated from its wild variants and is now found in many European gardens and parks.
Characteristics
The Prunus laurocerasus 'Novita' is a sturdy evergreen shrub that can reach a height of up to 5 metres. It is characterised by its shiny, dark green leaves and the clusters of white flowers that bloom in late spring. The plant produces small dark red berries in the autumn. This plant is tolerant to various types of soil, making it suitable for many environmental conditions.
Care
The Cherry Laurel 'Novita' requires minimal care. During the growth phase, the plant needs regular watering, especially during dry periods. Pruning of the Prunus laurocerasus 'Novita' is best done after the blooming period, although this plant can also be pruned in the winter.
