Origin
The Hypoestes phyllostachya Pink, more commonly known as the Polka Dot Plant, originates from Madagascar. It is an evergreen perennial plant that belongs to the Acanthaceae family. Furthermore, it's also a popular ornamental plant in many parts of the world, mainly in subtropical and tropical regions.

Characteristics
The Polka Dot Plant is known for its striking leaf colour and texture. Its leaves are often deeply lobed and thoroughly speckled with pink spots and blotches, hence the common name. The plant has the potential to grow up to a height of 30 centimetres and a width of 25 centimetres, though this depends on the growth conditions. The flowers of the Hypoestes phyllostachya Pink are inconspicuous, small and usually white in colour.

Care
The Polka Dot Plant requires a bright, but not direct sun-drenched location. Too much sun can lead to the bleaching of the brightly coloured leaf details. It is recommended to keep the plant moist and to regularly water it during the growth and bloom period. Ideal temperatures should lie between 21 and 24 degrees Celsius for optimal growth, and the plant needs high humidity. Trimming may be necessary to maintain its compact shape.
