Origin
The Peperomia caperata 'Rosso', also known as the Emerald Ripple Peperomia, is originally from Brazil. In the wild, this plant species is commonly found in the tropical rainforest of South America. It predominantly grows in the shade of larger trees and plants.
Characteristics
The Peperomia caperata 'Rosso' is distinguished by its striking red underside and deep green top. The leaves are heart-shaped, deeply wrinkled, and form a sort of rosette. The plant typically grows to a height of 15 to 30 centimeters. Unlike other peperomia species, the 'Rosso' often does not flower. When it does bloom, small white flowers appear on long soft stalks.
Care
The Peperomia caperata 'Rosso' is a low-maintenance houseplant. Although the plant is originally from a tropical climate, it also thrives in less warm environments. The plant likes indirect sunlight and should be irrigated regularly but moderately in the spring and summer. Less water is sufficient in the autumn and winter. It is important that the plant is not standing in water, as this can cause the roots to rot.
