Origin
The Medinilla magnifica 'Lambada', also known as the Malaysian orchid, has its origin in the tropical areas of the Philippines. This special plant is primarily found in the rainforest, where it is warm and humid. Here, the plant is often found in the high treetops, where it lives as an epiphytic plant.

Characteristics
The Medinilla magnifica is characterised by its striking bloom. The plant produces large, hanging clusters of pink flowers which give an attractive, exotic appearance. In addition to the unique flowers, the plant also grows long, dark green leaves, which have a leathery and shiny texture. This growth pattern makes the Lambada suitable for indoor use, where it is often used as a hanging plant.

Care
The Lambada requires specific care in order to flourish. It prefers warmth and humidity, but should also be provided with sufficient light. However, direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent burning of the leaves. In addition, the Medinilla magnifica requires regular water, but too much water can cause root rot. It is therefore important that the plant is potted in well-draining soil.
