Origin
The Mandevilla (Dipladenia) Rio mix is a popular houseplant that originally comes from Central and South America. The name Mandevilla derives from Henry Mandeville, a 19th-century British diplomat and horticulturist who was responsible for the introduction of the plant to Europe. The Rio mix is a specific selection from this genus, known for its vibrant colour variations.

Characteristics
The Mandevilla Rio mix is a climbing plant, known for its shiny, bright green leaves and flowers in various colour shades. The flowers range in colour from pure white to deep pink and red, and they have a characteristic trumpet shape. The plant blooms from late spring to early autumn. A mature plant can grow up to 10 feet high and 3 to 6 feet wide, depending on specific circumstances.

Care
A Mandevilla Rio mix prefers a bright, but indirect light environment and needs to be watered regularly, but should never be left sitting in water. It prefers temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit and doesn't appreciate chilly draughts. During spring and summer, the plant can benefit from fertilising every two weeks. It is also recommended to move the plant indoors during winter in colder climates, as it is not hardy.
