Origin
The Athyrium spicatum, is native to East Asia. This fern species, often found in forests, is part of the Athyriaceae family. The spread of the Athyrium spicatum extends from Asia throughout Europe.

Characteristics
Visually, the Athyrium spicatum can be recognized by its narrow, dark green leaves that grow in an oval shape. Under optimal conditions, the plant can reach a height of an average of 40 centimeters. This deciduous fern species forms an ornate bunch of fine, double-ferned leaves, distinguishing it from other members of the family.

Care
The care for the Athyrium spicatum consists of providing a rich, moist but well-draining soil and a spot in the partial shade or full shade. It is important that the plant is not exposed to dry, hot conditions. In the winter, the fronds may die back, but the plant will produce new growth in the spring.
