Origin
The Ficus amstel king, also known as the banana plant, has its origins in Southeast Asia and the Far East. The botanical name 'Ficus' comes from the fig, which belongs to the same Moraceae family. The plant was inspired by the exotic plants from these regions and bears the name of the Dutch nursery where it was first grown.

Characteristics
The Ficus amstel king is distinguished by its massive appearance and its lanceolate, glossy leaves. The leaves are rich green in colour, and can reach lengths of up to 30 centimetres long, with a width of about 10 centimetres. This makes the Ficus amstel king an impressive, notable houseplant. The plant can grow up to 3 metres high under the right conditions.

Care
A Ficus amstel king thrives best at constant, moderately high temperatures and a light, but no direct sun exposure. The plant needs plenty of water and the soil should always stay moist, although overwatering should be avoided. Like many other similar plants, the Ficus amstel king also benefits from regular misting to increase humidity. Pruning the plant helps it to maintain its shape and promotes new growth.
