Origin
The Myrtillocactus geometrizans 'Cristata', also known as the 'Crème-brûlée cactus', has its origin in Mexico. Here, the plant grows in arid, harsh desert areas, where it is fully adapted to the extreme heat and lack of water.

Characteristics
The 'Cristata' is a common form of the Myrtillocactus geometrizans. In this specific variant, the cactus does not grow in the usual straight column, but develops a unique wavy, brain-like shape. The plant has a blue-green colour and can reach up to one and a half metres in height. In full bloom, the 'Cristata' produces small white flowers and possibly small fruits, both a rare and beautiful spectacle.

Care
This cactus requires little maintenance in terms of care. The 'Cristata' has a strong preference for a sunny location and can be kept both indoors and outdoors, provided the temperatures do not drop below ten degrees Celsius. Regular watering is important in the spring and summer, but the plant hardly needs any water in the winter. Overwatering can lead to root rot, a condition that can be fatal to the plant. However, depending on the circumstances, this cactus can grow without problems for many years.
