The Tillandsia xerographica is an epiphytic plant, hailing from the semi-arid desert regions of Central America, particularly Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador. It grows in its natural habitat on branches or rocks. It is part of the Bromeliad family and has garnered its unique name due to its distinctive appearance, reminiscent of a live drawing or sculpture.
Characteristics
Characteristic of the Tillandsia xerographica are the broad silver-grey leaves that spiral outwards from a central point. The stems of the flowers are thick and robust, producing striking bright red flowers with yellow edges. This unique bromeliad can grow up to 60 cm wide and live for a maximum of 8 years. The plant is also sometimes referred to as the 'King of the Air Plants' due to its size and striking appearance.
