DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Acer griseum, also known as the Paperbark Maple, originates from Central China. This special type of maple was first introduced to the west in the 20th century by Ernest Wilson, a prominent plant collector. Its native habitat mainly lies at altitudes of 1500 to 2000 meters above sea level.

Characteristics
What particularly distinguishes the Acer griseum is its unique bark. As the name suggests, the Paperbark Maple has a remarkable 'paper-like' bark. This bark is cinnamon-coloured and peels off in thin layers, creating a unique visual effect. The Acer griseum has three-lobed leaves, which undergo a stunning colour change from green to red and orange in the autumn.

Care
The Acer griseum has few care requirements, but thrives best in a place with full sun or semi-shade. It is a strong plant that does well in most types of soil, as long as they're adequately drained. The maple can cope in dry conditions, but grows better when it receives regular water. An annual pruning after the leaves have fallen helps promote growth and maintain shape.
