Azalea japonica 'Aladdin Scout' (80-100)
Bush

Origin
The Cephalotaxus harringtonii 'Fastigiata', also known as the Japanese Plum Yew, has its origin in East Asia. The plant has been cultivated in Japan and China for centuries, both for its wood and culinary applications. The Latin name is a tribute to Charles Stanhope, the fourth Earl of Harrington.
Characteristics
As an evergreen shrub, the Cephalotaxus harringtonii 'Fastigiata' can reach a height of 10 to 12 metres. This plant is characterised by its dark green, needle-like leaves and pointed growth habit, which gives the 'Fastigiata' variety its distinctive columnar shape. During spring, small, inconspicuous flowers appear on the plant at the base of the new shoots. In the autumn this Plum Yew produces bright red, plum-like fruits.
Care
In terms of care, the Cephalotaxus harringtonii 'Fastigiata' requires a well-draining, humus-rich soil and a place in partial shade or full sun. It is quite drought tolerant, but regular watering during prolonged dry periods is advised. It is wise to add some organic fertiliser to the soil every spring to promote the growth and overall health of the plant. Pruning should be limited to the removal of dead or damaged branches, as the plant grows better in its natural form.
