Origin
The Sansevieria Night Shade, also known as the Snake Plant, has its origins in West Africa. This plant species is particularly common in countries such as Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nigeria. The plant grows in dry, rocky areas there and has adapted over the years to these extreme conditions.
Characteristics
The Sansevieria Night Shade is a striking plant with long, upright leaves that have a dark green to almost black colour palette. This succulent grows slowly and can eventually reach a height of about 85 centimetres. The plant's leaves are thick and fleshy with structured patterns and bright, silvery stripes along the edges. The Sansevieria Night Shade rarely flowers, but when it does, it produces greenish-white flower spikes.
Care
The Sansevieria Night Shade requires little care and is therefore very easy to maintain. The plant needs lots of light, but can also survive in less bright conditions. Regular watering is required, but it is important to prevent overwatering, as this can cause root rot. It is best to water the plant when the soil is completely dry. It is also advisable to place the plant in well-draining soil to prevent water saturation.
