Origin
The Philodendron 'Birkin' originally comes from the South American rainforest. The genus Philodendron, to which the 'Birkin' belongs, consists of about 500 different species worldwide. Although the majority still occur in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America, today many species can also be found in the living rooms of plant enthusiasts around the world. The 'Birkin' is one of the latest additions to this wide range.

Characteristics
The Philodendron 'Birkin' is characterised by its cream-white stripes on the dark green leaves, which form a beautiful contrast. The plant grows upwards and can reach up to 50 cm with optimal care. Furthermore, the 'Birkin' is distinctive because of its compact shape, making it take up less space compared to other Philodendron species. Finally, this plant does not bloom, thus it retains its ornamental value entirely in its foliage.

Care
In terms of the care for the Philodendron 'Birkin', this plant prefers a light to semi-shade location, but should avoid direct sunlight to prevent damage to the leaves. Watering once a week is recommended, but the plant is resilient and can also survive if watering is forgotten once. The plant thrives in high humidity, so occasionally spraying it can be beneficial for its health. The 'Birkin' should ideally be fed during the growing season, from spring to autumn, with a balanced fertilizer for houseplants.
