Origin
The Tillandsia Usneoides L., also known as Spanish moss, has its origin in the Southeastern United States, Central America and the Caribbean region. The plant grows in subtropical climates, particularly in areas with high humidity. They can often be found in forests and swamps, hanging from tree branches.
Characteristics
The Tillandsia Usneoides L. is known for its unique, stringy leaf growth and its grey-green colour. The leaves are thin, curly and measure between 15 and 20 centimetres long. The plant rarely blooms, but when it does, the Tillandsia Usneoides L. produces small, fragrant, green flowers. The flowers are fleeting, but have a strong, pleasant scent.
Care
The Tillandsia Usneoides L. is an epiphytic plant, which means that it does not grow in soil but lives in the air by absorbing moisture and nutrients from its surroundings. As a result, the plant requires almost no water, but does need high humidity. It is important to place the plant in a bright spot, but out of direct sunlight. It is recommended to mist the plant one to two times a week with distilled water.
