The Alocasia Black Velvet originates from Southeast Asia, specifically the Philippines. This exotic plant originally hails from the humid, warm monsoon forests of this region. Despite its tropical heritage, the Alocasia Black Velvet, also known as the 'Alocasia Reginula', has become a popular house plant in many parts of the world.

Characteristics
The Alocasia Black Velvet is a decorative houseplant that stands out with its dark coloured leaves. These leaves are almost black in colour and have a velvety texture, from which the plant derives its name. They are heart-shaped and exhibit distinct, white veins. Mature plants often reach a height of 30 to 50 cm, making them ideal for smaller spaces.

Care
The care of the Alocasia Black Velvet requires some attention. It prefers a light, but not direct sunlight and requires a high humidity. It's important to let the soil dry out between waterings to prevent root rot. While the plant can withstand some periods of dryness, the leaves will curl as a signal that it requires watering. Finally, it thrives at normal room temperatures, between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius.
