Origin
The Polyscias 'Balfouriana', also known as the Geranium Aralia, originates from the subtropical regions of Southeast Asia and the Pacific Ocean. The plant belongs to the Araliaceae family, making it a cousin of the well-known Schefflera and Fatsia plants.
Characteristics
The Polyscias 'Balfouriana' is a shrub-like plant with deep green, glossy leaves that take on a round shape. These leaves, which converge in clusters of three, have a unique silvery hue on the underside. The plant can reach a height of about 1 to 2 metres, depending on the conditions. It grows relatively slow and has a stylised and compact design, which makes it an ideal plant for interior use.
Care
The Polyscias 'Balfouriana' requires well-draining soil and optimal light conditions, although not in direct sunlight. It prefers a moderate to warm climate and an environment with high humidity. It is recommended to water the plant regularly but moderately, and to ensure that the soil dries lightly between watering. Overwatering should be avoided to prevent root rot.
