Origin
The Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. ladismithiensis is a plant species that originates from South Africa. It can be found in the Western Cape province, especially in the Ladismith region. Like other members of the Cotyledon genus, this species naturally grows in semi-desert, rocky environments.
Characteristics
The Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. ladismithiensis, also known as the 'Bear's Paw', is a succulent with distinctive characteristics. The plant produces thick, fleshy leaves that are covered in fine white hairs, giving the plant its soft, woolly appearance. The leaves are usually green, but can develop reddish hues with strong light exposure. The plant also produces beautiful bell-shaped flowers that are typically orange.
Care
The care for the Cotyledon tomentosa subsp. ladismithiensis requires a few specific steps. The plant needs plenty of light, but not direct sunlight, as the leaves can get scorched. It also needs well-draining soil to prevent root rot, a common issue with succulents. Watering should be moderate, the soil needs to completely dry out between watering to prevent the roots from getting too wet.
