Origin
The Aloe Paradisicum originates from the dry, rocky regions of Madagascar. The botanical name of this plant is Aloe decaryi, but it is commonly known as 'Spider Aloe'.
Characteristics
The Aloe Paradisicum has some notable characteristics. This is an evergreen plant that can grow to a height of about 60 cm. Its leaves form a rosette and are light green in colour with a fine red edge. The flowers form clusters of a bright orange to red and appear at the top of the flower stem.
Care
The care of the Aloe Paradisicum is pretty straightforward. Although the plant is tolerant of dry conditions, it prefers moderate watering. It is important to ensure that the soil dries out completely between watering. This species requires full sun to light shade conditions and can grow well in rocky, well-drained soils. Over-fertilising should be avoided as this can lead to a weak and limp plant.
