Origin
The Mammillaria pringlei, also known as the Lemons Ball cactus, has its origin in Mexico. Here the plant grows in desert-like areas and the temperatures can vary from very warm during the day to cool at night.
Characteristics
The Mammillaria pringlei is a spherical cactus that typically reaches a diameter of 15 to 20 centimetres. Characteristic of this type of cactus are the bright yellow and sometimes orange-red flowers it produces during the late spring and early summer. The plant also bears small, red fruits after flowering. The body colour of the Mammillaria pringlei ranges from deep green to blue-green.
Care
Mammillaria pringlei, like other cacti, needs limited water and performs best in a well-draining substrate, preferably a cactus mix. During the growing season, the plant requires regular watering sessions, but these should decrease during the winter months to prevent rot. Full sun to semi-shade provides the ideal light conditions for the growth of this species.
