Origin
The Euphorbia mammillaris 'Variegata', also known as the Indian Corn Cob, originates from South Africa. It grows wild in the Southern Cape, a region known for its rich diversity of succulents and cacti. The plant belongs to the Euphorbiaceae family, a large and diverse plant family with representation on all continents.

Characteristics
A striking characteristic of the Euphorbia mammillaris 'Variegata' is its often cylindrical shape, somewhat reminiscent of a corn cob. The stems are bright green with longitudinal varying cream-coloured stripes. The plant produces small, yellow flowers in late winter and early spring. Mature plants can reach a height of up to one metre, although houseplants usually stay smaller.

Care
The Euphorbia mammillaris 'Variegata' is a relatively low-maintenance plant. It prefers a sunny spot, but can also thrive in partial shade. The plant requires very little water and is resistant to dry conditions. Overwatering can cause root rot and should be avoided. In winter, the plant should be protected from too low temperatures, as it is not well resistant to frost.
