Origin
The Dracaena marginata Bicolor hails from Madagascar and parts of tropical Asia. This species is part of the Asparagaceae family. They have become extremely popular houseplants in many parts of the world due to their high tolerance for varying climate conditions.
Characteristics
The Dracaena marginata Bicolor, also known as Dragon Tree, is distinguished by its slender, woody trunks and long, narrow leaves. Its leaves are green with bright red edges, earning it its 'bicolor' moniker. Under ideal conditions, the plant has the potential to grow several metres high. The plant is slow-growing but can achieve an impressive height over time.
Care
The Dracaena marginata Bicolor requires minimal care and is relatively easy to maintain. The plant should be located in a light spot, but direct sunlight is not recommended. Furthermore, the plant has moderate water needs - it is better to underwater than overwater the plant. In fact, the soil should be allowed to dry between watering. It is advisable to feed the plant once a month with a balanced liquid fertiliser during the growing season.
