Origin
Dracaena reflexa 'Song of Jamaica', also known as Pleomele reflexa, originates from Madagascar and other islands in the Indian Ocean. However, the plant is cultivated in various tropical areas all over the world and is popular as a houseplant.
Characteristics
The Dracaena reflexa 'Song of Jamaica' is characterised by its striking long and slender leaves. The colour of the leaves varies from dark green to light green, with yellowish stripes. The leaves are tightly situated against the trunk, giving the plant its graceful appearance. The plant can grow up to three metres high, although it usually remains smaller indoors.
Care
Dracaena reflexa 'Song of Jamaica' prefers bright, filtered light, but can also survive in less light. Overwatering should be avoided as this can cause root rot. The plant likes high humidity, but can also fairly tolerate drier conditions. It's important that the soil is well-drained and that the plant is regularly fed with a balanced houseplant fertilizer.
