Origin
The Cupressus sempervirens 'Totem', better known as the Italian Cypress, has its origin in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region. Through trade routes and human movements, this plant has spread throughout the world and is now common in gardens and parks.

Characteristics
The Cupressus sempervirens 'Totem' is an evergreen, columnar tree that can reach heights of up to twenty meters. The needles of this tree are dark green and united in four rows that form a square branch. The cones, which have a grey-brown colour, are small and spherical, which is a unique aspect of this species.

Care
The care of the Cupressus sempervirens 'Totem' requires sufficient sunlight and regular watering, especially during dry periods. The plant grows well in well-drained soil types and is very tolerant of salt and drought. Pruning is not really a requirement for this species, but can be done to achieve a neater, uniform look. The plant furthermore has relatively little trouble with diseases or pests.
