Origin
The Monstera deliciosa 'Variegata', also known as the Variegated Monstera, has its origins in the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. In this warm, humid environment, the plant grows in the shade of larger trees and plants.
Characteristics
The Monstera deliciosa 'Variegata' is a special variant of the standard Monstera deliciosa, characterised by its unique, variegated leaf pattern. The large, shiny leaves are marked with striking white and green spots and stripes. The plant has a climbing growth habit and can reach up to 20 meters in height in the wild. It is a fast-growing plant that, with sufficient support, can grow both in height and width.
Care
The Monstera deliciosa 'Variegata', like other Monstera species, requires regular but moderate watering. Overwatering can cause root rot. The plant thrives best at high humidity and a temperature between 18 and 27 degrees Celsius. In addition, the plant needs a bright, indirect light position and regular fertilisation in the spring and summer months is recommended.
