Origin
The Areca catechu dwarf, also known as the dwarf palm, originates from South East Asia and the islands of the Pacific Ocean. This type of palm tree grows in the tropical forests and is cultivated for its seed: the betelnut. Nowadays, the palm is also cultivated in other tropical areas around the world.

Characteristics
A distinctive characteristic of the Areca catechu dwarf is its compact size. Unlike other palm species, it only reaches a height of 6 to 10 meters. The dwarf palm has long, elegant leaves that are a deep green colour and initially grow upright before bending down. Over the course of a year, the palm produces small, yellow flowers, followed by round, red fruits.

Care
The Areca catechu dwarf requires plenty of sunlight and good water supply to grow. The palm can survive in a variety of soils, but prefers well-drained ones. Although this palm tree is drought-tolerant, it prefers regular watering. Furthermore, the plant thrives best at temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees Celsius.
