Origin
The Philodendron Ring of Fire is a tropical plant that originates from South America. More specifically, it can be found in the rainforests of Brazil and Paraguay. It is one of the hundreds of species within the genus Philodendron. The Ring of Fire is synonymous, meaning it is also known under another name, namely Philodendron tortum.
Characteristics
The Philodendron Ring of Fire is characterised by its unique colour pattern. This appears in warm shades of yellow, orange and red, from which the plant gets its name. The leaf shape varies from long and narrow to wide and heart-shaped, depending on the light and growth conditions. The mature leaves can grow up to 60 cm long. The plant has aerial roots that support growth and anchoring.
Care
In terms of care, the Philodendron Ring of Fire prefers semi-shade, but can also grow under indirect bright light. The plant thrives in a moist environment, so it is important to keep the soil evenly moist. In the case of overwatering, however, the plant may suffer from root rot. The plant prefers an ambient temperature between 18 °C and 27 °C.
