Origin
The Ficus pumila 'Bellus' has its origin in Southeast Asia and is a climbing plant species within the Ficus genus, better known as climbing figs. The species is highly popular for indoor use due to its refined appearance and has been used in Japanese and Chinese gardens for centuries.
Characteristics
With its heart-shaped leaf, the Ficus pumila 'Bellus' is a striking plant. The leaf has a light green colour with a white, almost cream edge, giving the plant a lively and fresh appearance. The Ficus pumila 'Bellus' reaches mature heights of up to one metre and can spread both vertically and horizontally with its long, flexible tendrils.
Care
The Ficus pumila 'Bellus' has a strong preference for bright, filtered light and relatively high humidity. It is therefore important to regularly spray the plant, which also helps to keep the leaves dust-free. The soil should be well-draining and constantly lightly moist, but not soaked. It is recommended to fertilise the plant monthly during the growing season, spring and summer. Excessive growth can be prevented by periodic pruning. It is important to realise that this plant cannot tolerate temperatures below ten degrees Celsius when caring for it.
