Origin
The Philodendron 'White Princess' is a species within the largest plant family, Araceae, with an origin in the tropical climate of Central and South America. The plant is a hybrid, meaning it is a crossbreed of various Philodendron species.
Characteristics
The 'White Princess' owes her name to the colour of her leaves; these are a blend of green and white. The plant is characterised by the pointed shape of her leaves and the red bracts that cover the newly growing leaves. A noticeable characteristic is the off-white or pale yellow centre of the leaf, a pattern that doesn't appear in any other Philodendron.
Care
The Philodendron 'White Princess' prefers high humidity and temperatures between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. Direct sunlight should be avoided as it could burn the variegated leaves. Additionally, the plant needs to be watered regularly but not excessively; the potting soil needs to slightly dry out before a new watering. This prevents root rot, a common issue with Philodendrons.
