Origin
The Dracaena fragrans Twist, also known as the Fragrant Dragon Tree, originates from tropical parts of Africa. This species is particularly prevalent in countries like South Sudan, Mozambique and Ivory Coast. Here, the Dracaena fragrans Twist grows in a range of habitats, from dense forests to open savannahs.
Characteristics
The Dracaena fragrans Twist is a robust, evergreen plant characterised by its elegant, spiral leaves. The leaves are dark green in colour and can reach a length of up to 1 meter. The plant itself can grow to be between 2 and 6 meters high. Moreover, the plant produces small, white flowers that emit a sweet, distinctive aroma.
Care
Caring for the Dracaena fragrans Twist does not require much expertise or time. The plant can withstand both full sun and partial shade, but prefers indirect light and moist soil. It is advised to let the soil dry out slightly between watering. During autumn and winter, watering can be reduced. As the plant, inherent to tropical areas, grows slowly, it is normally not necessary to repot annually.
