Echeveria 'Black Prince'
F00001003
Origin
The Echeveria agavoides, also known as the 'Lipstick Echeveria', is a succulent, originating from Mexico. Belonging to the Crassulaceae family, this species can mainly be found in rocky areas at high altitudes. Consequently, it has adapted well to a life in extreme conditions with little water.
Characteristics
The Echeveria agavoides is characterised by leaves that resemble the shape of an agave, hence the name. These leaves often have red tips, which have earned the plant the nickname ‘Lipstick Echeveria’. This species is rosette-forming and can reach a diameter of 30 centimeters. In the spring, the plants develop small, scarlet flowers from their center, which are found on the ends of long, slender stems.
Care
Despite its resilience to dry conditions, the Echeveria agavoides thrives in well-drained soil and requires regular watering. Due to its limited water consumption in its natural habitat, it is essential to avoid overwatering. The plant enjoys plenty of sunlight, however, afternoon shading may be necessary during the hottest summer months. The ideal temperature for cultivating this plant is between 21-26°C, and it is vital to protect the plant from frost.
