Croton (Codiaeum) variegatum 'Petra'
Branched
4COPEVT14
Origin
The Ficus microcarpa 'Compacta', also known as the Indian rubber plant, has its origin in the Far East, particularly Southeast Asia and parts of Australia. It is a sub-species of the well-known and widely spread Ficus microcarpa.
Characteristics
Characteristic of the Ficus microcarpa 'Compacta' are the small, dark green, shiny leaves that grow closely together, making this plant look compact and full. The tree can grow to great heights in its natural habitat, but will usually maintain a manageable height of 1-2 metres indoors. Interestingly, despite its name, the 'Compacta' variant actually has larger and more conspicuous leaves than the normal Ficus microcarpa.
Care
The care of the Ficus microcarpa 'Compacta' requires regular watering, especially during the growth period. However, it is important to prevent the soil from becoming too moist. This ficus prefers indirect sunlight and an open airy space with a temperature between 16-24°C. If the plant shows signs of discolouration or falling leaves, this could be an indication of both too much and too little water.
