DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
Taxus media 'Hillii', also known as English Yew, is a hybrid that was created by crossing the species Taxus baccata and Taxus cuspidata. The cultivar 'Hillii' was named after the Hill Nursery in England, where this variant was first successfully grown.

Characteristics
The Taxus media 'Hillii' stands out due to its dark green needles, which remain on the plant all year round. These needles are arranged in two rows on very short branches. The English Yew grows wide, can reach a height of 2 to 3 meters and is suitable both as a solitary plant and in a hedge. It does not bear fruit, which distinguishes it from other Yew species.

Care
A major advantage of the Taxus media 'Hillii' is that it tolerates pruning well, it is even recommended to lightly prune it annually to maintain a nice shape. It grows best in a light to semi-shady place and in a well-drained, humus-rich soil. In its care, this Yew is not demanding, although it does need to be protected from strong, drying winds. It is wise to fertilise 'Hillii' in the spring.
