Origin
Beaucarnea recurvata, better known as the Nolina, is an exotic houseplant originating from the east of Mexico. It is part of the Agavaceae family and grows in dry, rocky areas. Despite its tropical origin, the Nolina is well adapted to various conditions and is a popular choice for indoor settings.

Characteristics
The Nolina, also commonly referred to as the elephant's foot or ponytail palm, has a remarkable appearance. Its most striking characteristic is the bulbous, woody trunk that serves as a water reservoir. Long, hanging, ribbon-like leaves that are green in colour grow from the top. In a mature state, the Nolina can bloom, with small, greenish-white flowers appearing.

Care
When it comes to care, the Nolina is a fairly easy houseplant. It likes a lot of light, but direct sunlight should be avoided to prevent leaf burn. Although the plant is drought-tolerant, regular watering is necessary. However, overwatering must be avoided, as this can lead to root rot. It is recommended to water the plant only when the top few centimetres of soil are dry. Pruning is not necessary, unless to remove dead or yellow leaves. Hoffman's Feed, Green and Trim Growers Mix is a well-recommended soil type for Beaucarnea Recurvata.
