DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Calathea Freddie, also known as the Calathea Concinna Freddie, finds its origin in the tropical rainforests of South America. More specifically, the plant is native to Brazil. It belongs to the family of the Marantaceae and is thus a cousin of the well-known Maranta and Stromanthe species.

Characteristics
The Calathea Freddie is noticeable because of its light green leaves with dark green, almost black spots. The underside of the leaf reveals a purple colour. A unique feature of the Calathea Freddie is its 'liveliness'. The leaves move throughout the day according to the day and night rhythm, wherein they stand up at night and spread out again during the day. The plant can grow up to about 60 cm high and is not fast-growing.

Care
The Calathea Freddie prefers a location with indirect light, but can also survive in a less well-lit room. The plant requires water weekly and the soil should stay moist, but not too wet. Too much water can lead to root rot. The plant thrives well with high humidity and at temperatures between 18-27 degrees Celsius. However, it is important to avoid drafts and sudden temperature changes, as these can cause the formation of brown leaf edges.
