Philodendron 'Florida Ghost'

Origin
The Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' originally comes from the rainforests of Central and South America. It is a tropical plant species that belongs to the Araceae family. Among the local population, the plant is also known as the 'Heartleaf Philodendron'.

Characteristics
The 'Florida Ghost' distinguishes itself through its remarkable leaf discoloration. Young leaves are cream-coloured to white, almost transparent, and over time take on a deep green colour. The plant has thick, shiny leaves that can grow up to 20 cm in length, and has a creeping way of growing. As a houseplant, the 'Florida Ghost' can grow to over a metre high.

Care
When caring for the Philodendron 'Florida Ghost' one must take into account its tropical origin. This means the plant needs high humidity and does best in a place with indirect light. The soil needs to be well-draining to prevent root rot. The 'Florida Ghost' must not be in direct sunlight and needs moderate amounts of water: allow the soil to slightly dry out between watering sessions.
