Origin
The Anthurium bakeri is a native plant from the tropical regions of Central and South America, including countries such as Costa Rica and Colombia. This exotic plant is predominantly found in dense forests and on the slopes of hills and mountains, where the weather conditions are favourable for the growth of this species.
Characteristics
Anthurium bakeri is recognised by its long, dark green, glossy leaves which have an oval shape and are marked with clear veins. The plant produces white flowers in the form of a distinctive spadix, surrounded by a yellow flower spike. A striking feature of this plant is that in mature state, the leaves can often grow up to 30 centimetres long.
Care
Caring for the Anthurium bakeri requires high humidity and a warm temperature, these conditions mimic the original tropical habitats. The plant requires light, but indirect sunlight conditions. In terms of watering, the plant has an average water requirement and does not like overwatering, as this can cause root rot. Lastly, the Anthurium bakeri prefers well-drained soil, rich in organic material.
