Kalanchoe beharensis
Bush
4KABEBP10
Origin
The Larix decidua, also known as the European larch, originates from the mountains of Central Europe. It mainly grows in the Alps and the Carpathians, where it can perfectly adapt to the harsh climate and high altitudes. Here, they sometimes form extensive forests up to 2400 metres high.
Characteristics
The Larix decidua is a conifer that can reach up to 50 metres in height. Despite belonging to the conifers, it is a deciduous tree that sheds its needles in the autumn. These needles are bright green, light and soft, and turn yellow before they fall. The tree bears small, brown cone fruits and the trunk has a striking reddish-brown bark.
Care
Caring for the Larix decidua includes regular watering and keeping the soil conditioned. This conifer thrives best in a well-draining, acidic soil and in a sunny spot. Pruning is not necessary, but can occur between late spring and summer to control the shape of the tree. It is relatively resistant to diseases, but should be checked for signs of discolouration, which could indicate a problem.
