Origin
The Vriesea Orange is a plant species that belongs to the Bromeliaceae family. This plant finds its origin in the tropical regions of Central and South America. It is named after the Dutch botanist Willem Hendrik de Vriese.

Characteristics
The Vriesea Orange is characterised by broad, green leaves with a leathery structure that culminate in a spectacular orange flower. The plant is also known as the 'Flaming Sword' due to the bright orange flower that resembles a rising sword. The flowering period of the Vriesea Orange spans several months and once the flowering has finished, the plant can continue to live for several more years.

Care
The Vriesea Orange is a tropical plant and therefore requires a warm and humid climate. A bright, indirect light environment is ideal for this plant. Although the Vriesea Orange can tolerate some drought, it performs best when the soil is kept slightly dry between watering. Too much water can lead to root rot, so over-watering should be avoided.
