DescriptionSpecifications

Origin
The Ludisia Discolor L. originates from a tropical orchid from Southeast Asia. It grows in subtropical forests, mainly in China, Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia. In its natural environment, the plant is often found on shadowy, damp spots.

Characteristics
The Ludisia Discolor L. is primarily known for its unique leaves. These are dark green to almost black, generously covered with velvety, red or golden hairs. The flowers are small and white to light yellow in colour, grouped in long, upright spikes that bloom in the winter or early spring. The plant rarely grows taller than 30 cm.

Care
The Ludisia Discolor L. prefers indirect light and moderate temperatures of around 18-22 degrees Celsius. An excess of direct sunlight can fade the colour of the leaves. The plant enjoys high humidity and cannot tolerate dry air. Regular misting is therefore advisable. In addition, the plant requires well-draining soil. While the Ludisia Discolor L. is tolerant to cold, exposure to temperatures lower than 10 degrees Celsius is not recommended.
