Origin
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Obtipan', also known as the 'Baby Rubber Plant', naturally originates from South America. The plant can be found in a variety of regions, from the Amazon area to the south of Florida. It is a popular houseplant in many parts of the world due to its attractive appearance and easy care.
Characteristics
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Obtipan' is an attractive evergreen plant with glossy, fleshy leaves. The leaves are oval in shape and have a rich green colour with a red underside. This type of plant grows to an average height of 25-30 centimeters. Additionally, the plant rarely produces flowers, but when they do occur, they are cream-coloured and not very prominent.
Care
The Peperomia obtusifolia 'Obtipan' is fairly simple to care for. The plant prefers indirect, bright light and should be protected from direct sunlight. Watering should be done carefully to prevent root rot; the plant would rather be slightly too dry than too wet. In terms of temperature, it does well within a range of 15 to 24 degrees Celsius. Finally, the plant does not tolerate drastic temperature fluctuations, so it should be positioned away from draughty windows or heaters.
