Origin
The Vanda Lisanne, otherwise known as the 'blue orchid', originates from Southeast Asia. It is an epiphytic plant, meaning that it grows on the branches of rainforest trees. Its spread is widespread, ranging from India to Southern China, and from the Philippines to Northern Australia.
Characteristics
The Vanda Lisanne is known for its blue flowers, quite a rare colour in the plant world. The flowers are large and round with a diameter that can vary between 6 and 8 cm. The plant has thick, hanging roots and long, narrow leaves. A mature plant can reach a length between 70 cm and 1 metre.
Care
The care of the Vanda Lisanne requires some dedication. The plant needs lots of light, but cannot handle direct sunlight well. Ideally, it is kept in a transparent planter, allowing the roots to receive light too. Regular watering is essential, preferably in the early morning. It is important to regularly spray the plant to increase the humidity level.
