Origin
The Begonia (Rex Grp) Caribbean Night is a plant species with exotic roots. Originally from the warm climate zones of Brazil, this plant is also called the 'Queen of Begonias'. It is a special ornamental plant that belongs to the Begoniaceae family, a plant family with more than 1800 species spread all over the world.
Characteristics
The Begonia Caribbean Night distinguishes itself by its unique physical characteristics. The plant has round, wide leaves with a velvet-like texture. The dramatic dark green to almost black colour spectrum is crossed with striking silver veins. The colour variations change depending on the angle of the light, giving the plant a dynamic appearance. The plant can grow up to 40cm high and does not bear flowers.
Care
The Begonia Caribbean Night prefers a warm, slightly moist environment without direct sunlight. A spot with filtered light is ideal. Regular spraying can help to maintain the high humidity that the plant is accustomed to in its natural environment. It is important to provide the plant with well-draining soil, as this Begonia is susceptible to root rot as a result of overwatering. In the winter, the plant requires less water. Although the Begonia Caribbean Night feels at home at normal room temperatures, it must be protected from cold drafts and temperatures below 15°C.
