Origin
The Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln', better known as the Fountain Grass 'Hameln', has its roots in the East of Asia and Australia. Although it's an exotic plant, it is perfectly adapted to the European climate and is particularly popular in garden landscapes across the continent.

Characteristics
The Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln' is a beautiful ornamental grass species, characterized by its compact, round shape. The plant is characterized by its narrow, bright green leaves and its unique inflorescence: in the late summer, the plant produces plume-like flowers of a striking bronze colour. The 'Hameln' can achieve a mature height of 60 to 90 cm and spreads itself to a width of about 45 cm.

Care
The Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln' requires little maintenance. It's best to plant it in full sun or partial shade, and it prefers well-drained soil. While it's drought-tolerant once established, regular watering is particularly important during dry periods in the first year after planting. Pruning can be best done in the early spring before new growth starts. When pruning, it's important to cut off approximately a third of the plant.
