Origin
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Pink Cloud' is a type of ornamental grass that originally comes from Eastern Asia. It was particularly common in countries such as China, Japan and the Philippines. Nowadays, the plant is cultivated worldwide and is a popular addition to gardens and parks.
Characteristics
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Pink Cloud' is characterised by its high growth, often between 1.5 and 2.5 meters, and its striking pink plumes that appear in autumn. The leaves of this plant are long and narrow, with a sharp edge. As autumn progresses, the green leaves change colour to a warm bronze tint, making it an attractive addition to the autumn garden.
Care
The Miscanthus sinensis 'Pink Cloud' is a strong plant that requires little care. The plant grows best in a place in full sun, but can also tolerate partial shade. It is recommended to cut back the plant each year in spring to about 10 centimetres above the ground, so that it can grow out new and fresh in the growing season. The Miscanthus thrives in almost all soil types, as long as the soil is well-draining. Overwatering or very wet soil can cause root rot.
