Origin
The Euonymus japonicus 'Extravaganza' is a plant species originally from Japan, as the name suggests. It is a cultivar of the Euonymus japonicus, or Japanese spindle. This plant has successfully spread to other parts of the world, including Europe and North America, where it is appreciated for its decorative qualities.

Characteristics
The Euonymus japonicus 'Extravaganza' is an evergreen shrub with oval to elliptical leaves. The leaves are characterised by their dark green colour with light-coloured, often yellow or white tinted edges. The plant produces small, inconspicuous flowers in the spring and red berries in the autumn. With a maximum height of two meters, the 'Extravaganza' is a medium to large shrub.

Care
This robust plant has the advantage of requiring little maintenance and adapting to various soil conditions. The Euonymus japonicus 'Extravaganza' performs best in full sun or partial shade and in well-drained soil. As it is an evergreen shrub, it provides colour in the garden all year round. It tolerates pruning well, which is preferably carried out in late spring or early summer, after flowering.
