Origin
The Rhapis humilis is a multi-trunked, evergreen plant from the palm family and has its origins in South China. The plant naturally grows predominantly in forests and mountainous areas. The Rhapis humilis is also known as the Slender Lady Palm, but is colloquially also referred to as the Chinese Fan.

Characteristics
The Rhapis humilis can reach a height of 2 to 4 metres and is characterised by its slender, bamboo-like trunks. The leaves, which have a fan-like shape, are dark green in colour and slightly ribbed. The palm grows slowly and has air-purifying qualities, which could have a positive effect on the air quality in a room.

Care
There are a few important things to pay attention to when caring for the Rhapis humilis. The plant prefers a spot with partial shade and must be watered regularly, but avoid excess water to prevent root rot. With regard to feeding, it's good to fertilise the plant once a month. Be careful not to let the temperature around the plant fall below 12 degrees Celsius, as the Rhapis humilis is not frost-hardy.
