Stem
4DAMIRS05
Origin
The Fargesia rufa, also known as the red bamboo, originates from China. Here, it grows in the wild on the edges of forests and ravines. The plant owes its name to the French priest and botanist Paul Guillaume Farges, who discovered the plant in the 19th century.
Characteristics
The Fargesia rufa belongs to the family of grasses and has a compact growth form. The plant can reach a height of 2 to 3 meters. In the summer, the plant produces green leaves and in the winter it retains its foliage. Notable are the orange-red shoots that appear in the spring.
Care
The Fargesia rufa can be planted in full sun as well as in partial shade. The plant likes a well-drained, fertile soil. It is recommended to regularly water the plant, especially in dry periods, but make sure that the soil does not get too wet. Pruning is not necessary, unless you want to keep the plant in shape.
