We are currently building a new ultrafiltration system in our nursery. Behind the scenes, extensive work is underway on this important upgrade to our water installation – largely out of sight, but with a major impact on the quality and reliability of our plants. With this investment, we are taking the next step in prevention and risk management, with a clear focus on the future. What this looks like in practice, you can read and see in this blog.
A quick recap: why ultrafiltration?
In our previous blog on this topic, we discussed the growing importance of prevention. Due to stricter phytosanitary regulations and a decreasing range of control options, it is becoming increasingly important to manage risks as early as possible in the chain. Water plays a central role in this. By investing in ultrafiltration, we ensure controlled water quality and take responsibility for providing the cleanest and safest possible start for every plant.
Prevention you can rely on
The outcome of this investment in prevention is clear for you:
Reduced risk of invisible contamination
Greater certainty in quality and delivery

Implementation: starting at the source
Prevention does not start with the end product, but at the source. Water connects all phases of cultivation and, if not properly controlled, can unintentionally become a pathway for unwanted organisms. That is why the installation of the ultrafiltration system starts in the water cellar, where all water flows come together.

In the water cellar, work has focused on creating the space and stability required to carefully separate and treat the different water flows in a controlled manner. A new concrete wall has been installed and additional support pillars have been added. These form an essential foundation for controlling water quality and reducing risks.

New irrigation unit: visible steps towards greater reliability
In parallel with the work in the water cellar, above-ground adjustments have also been made, including the installation of a new electrical control cabinet. This infrastructure is necessary to ensure that the new system can operate safely and reliably.

In addition, work has started this week on replacing the irrigation unit. By renewing the outdated unit, we increase the reliability of the installation and reduce the risk of interruptions in water supply. This results in more consistent irrigation and a more stable cultivation process, directly contributing to the quality and health of our plants.

Investing in control and certainty
Much of the work currently takes place behind the scenes. Concrete, pipes and technology will soon disappear from view again. What remains is the result: greater certainty, fewer risks and a water installation that meets the requirements of today and tomorrow.
Once the ultrafiltration system is operational – expected in around two weeks – all water in our nursery will be filtered. This process removes, among other things, nematodes, fungi, bacteria and viruses, while essential nutrients are retained. This allows us to maintain control over every water flow, and you over the quality of your plants.
A conscious choice for reliability within the chain
With this step, we make our preventive approach tangible. We take responsibility before risks become visible, thereby strengthening our role as a reliable partner in your chain.
We will of course keep you informed about the installation of the ultrafiltration system via our website and newsletter.
