Recognisability and accessibility
The ‘Collecting Memories’ style trend is based on the idea that society has a growing aversion to drastic changes. This manifests itself on the one hand in a need for tradition and on the other in a drive for new ways of life and being self-sufficient. This gap can be bridged by focusing on recognisability and accessibility. This might include products that are approachable for everyone and evoke nostalgic feelings and memories. In both interior and exterior spaces, green products can provide this recognisable handhold and thus act as a ‘lifebuoy’.
Nostalgic materials and soft colours
The shapes and designs in 'Collecting Memories' are calm and not too striking. Harsh lines and busy patterns are avoided. The shapes are therefore mainly round and oval and the designs are reminiscent of crafts and the past. A good example is the Baq Angle planter, with soft curves and a pattern of wickerwork. Materials such as wicker, zinc, ceramic and porcelain reinforce the reference to nostalgia. When it comes to colour, this trend is mainly about evoking feelings of comfort and security by creating a harmonious and calm colour palette. Therefore, combine different shades of green, from soft to dark and from blue-green to yellow, with colours such as lilac and pink. The Tradescantia albiflora 'Nanouk', for example, fits this colour palette perfectly. Reflect the different shades of green by combining plants such as the Platycerium bifurcatum and Araucaria heterophylla, and enhance the harmonious colour palette by adding a bouquet of pink, white and blue artificial flowers, for example.
